LA MAN HIT WITH $300 IN LAPD FINES AFTER RIPPING A LOUD FART NEXT TO TWO OFFICERS ON SUNSET BOULEVARD

Police say the situation escalated after Reeves continued laughing while officers attempted to question him.

LAPD eventually cited Reeves for two violations totaling $300:
• Offending public decency
• Ridiculing a legitimate official action

While officers were writing the ticket, Reeves allegedly attempted to defend himself by saying:
“Respectfully, my body made that decision, not me.”

One witness claimed the entire hot dog stand started laughing while the ticket was being written. Another said a man eating a chili dog actually applauded as Reeves walked away holding his food bag.

Officer Daniel Mercado later commented on the bizarre incident, stating:
“The fart itself was disruptive, but the reenactment is what pushed things into citation territory. I’ve worked patrol for 12 years and this is the first ticket I’ve ever written involving a sound effect.”

Reeves later spoke to local reporters outside the courthouse the next morning.

“I’m a grown man standing on Sunset Boulevard at midnight holding a chili dog and cheese fries,” he said. “At some point biology enters the chat. I feel like everyone involved needs to be more realistic here.”

His attorney confirmed Reeves plans to fight both citations in court, arguing the fart was involuntary and the laughter afterward falls under protected expression.

Reeves was released without bail shortly after the incident.
